A Detroit priest used stolen money to pay for his inmate boyfriend's bills

A Catholic priest in Detroit has been accused of doing some un-Godly things. According to the Detroit News, Rev. Timothy Kane allegedly used the money that he stole from the non-profit organization the Angel Fund, which helps individuals who are struggling financially to pay their bills, to pay for his “inmate boyfriend’s” bills.

Some of the alleged expenses included in the “inmate boyfriend’s” bills were money for the boyfriend’s baby mama and the baby.

The Detroit News reported that Kane admitted to stealing approximately $131,000 from the Angel Fund, but that he has been rather mum on how he’s used the money.

After Kane was charged earlier this year for stealing money from the Angel Fund, an anonymous donor, who’s given greater than $17 million in funds to the Angel Fund, decided that he was closing his wallet and would no longer be contributing.

Sister Jolene Van Handel, who’s a minister at Detroit’s Nativity Catholic Church, told the Detroit News that the church depended on money from the Angel Fund to help those in need and that “The fund’s end cuts back seriously on what we can do.”

On December 12, 2014, Kane will learn of the fate that man will hand down to him. As for the sentencing that awaits him on judgment day, well that “Thou shalt not steal” bit in the Ten Commandments (Exodus Chapter 20, verse 15) is quite clear.
